WANDERERS (4-3-2-1).
JOEL DIXON…7.5.
The penalty shootout hero had already put in an encouraging 90 minutes, with one early save from Adeboyajo.
GETHIN JONES…6.5.
Got forward well enough, linking with Isgrove, and certainly stood up to the threat of Jordan Williams on the Barnsley left.
RICARDO SANTOS…7.
Got to grips with Woodrow and Co after about 20 minutes and looked comfortable after that. Not 100 per cent, either, which shows his pedigree.
GEORGE JOHNSTON…7.
Considering he has been on the recovery from Covid, two games in four days at this pace was quite an achievement. Looks comfortable on the ball too.
LIAM GORDON…7.
Looks to be building confidence and though he had to turn the afterburners on a couple of times after getting caught out of position he is starting to look first team material.
MJ WILLIAMS…7.5.
The best outfield player on the pitch. Keeps things simple on the ball and spots danger from a mile off. Becoming one of Evatt’s most important players.
KIERAN LEE…6.5.
Knitted things together well and got into more advanced positions in the second half as Wanderers started to step up the tempo. Looks to be betting back to full fitness.
NATHAN DELFOUNESO…5.5.
Didn’t quite fire in the first half and so it was no surprise to see him switched for Bakayoko. Was a big chance for the former Blackpool man, who had a good pre-season.
ANTONI SARCEVIC…6.5.
Getting an extra half mark for that penalty, which was completely un-saveable. Looked busy on the night but struggled to stamp his authority.
LLOYD ISGROVE…7
Another one who kept his composure from the spot. Isgrove is defensively the best player in Evatt’s attacking ranks, which is a compliment, honestly!
EOIN DOYLE…6
Has spent the last two games chasing down defenders and getting few glimpses of goal. Never frightened of putting in the hard yards.
Subs: Bakayoko 7, 55 (for Delfouneso) – Changed the game with his physicality, instantly upping the tempo on his arrival.
Kachunga 6, 65 (for Doyle) – Couple of classy touches, and a lovely penalty.
Sheehan 78 (for Lee) – Grabbed the winning spot kick.
Not used: Tutte, Brockbank, Thomason, Darcy.
Barnsley: Walton; Moon, Halme, Helik; Miller, Styles, Benson, J Williams; Oduor, Adeboyejo, Woodrow.
Subs: Thompson 56 (for Adeboyajo), Kane 60 (for Styles), Cole 60 (for Woodrow).
Not used: Collins, Sraha, Sibbick, Frieser.
Referee: David Webb.
Attendance: 7,147 (1,608).
