Do I need a VPN?

I keep wondering about if it would be wise to have a VPN as well as my current security with Bitdefender.

Do you have one?

Can they cause problems I'm not aware of?

I would be interested in any sensible comments.

I use one to watch the Wanderers away games on iFollow. Very useful for getting other shows that are unavailable in our own region too.
Bitdefender do their own VPN, but the better, and cheaper option is Freedome, from F-Secure.

Are there any drawbacks to having a VPN on all the time or do you just put it on  when it's needed for football or others things you wouldn't normally be able to watch in your own region?

You don't really want it on all the time. That can cause problems when using websites in the UK. If I'm out and about I use one on my phone set to London. I set it to Finland on my computer to watch away games.
Freedome lets you have a minimum of three licences, so pretty decent value.

I use Nord for same reason as Bonce, only chose that because I’m lazy and picked first one I saw. Could probably save some money. 

Worth it for a trip to Finland each week to watch the wanderers though.

Bonce, I have a cousins in the USA, could I use her address for a VPN here and if so what information do I need please?

Do you mean her home address? If so, no. The VPN simply changes your IP address and location, so just buy your VPN online with your normal details, and you're good to go.
