TEAM NEWS: MJ Williams back in training 13227439

Wanderers boss Ian Evatt has confirmed MJ Williams is back in training and should be available for Saturday’s clash with Accrington.

However, Tuesday night’s trip to Fleetwood comes too soon for the Welsh midfielder, who suffered a dislocated shoulder in the 1-0 defeat at Wycombe last month.

The Whites have no new injury concerns ahead of their trip to the Highbury Stadium but are still without several members of the first-team squad.

“We’ve had no more (injuries) – that’s about as positive as it gets. Things are progressing with some of the injured players,” said the Bolton boss.

“I think Harry Brockbank will return to training on Thursday. MJ has joined in today. He’s not fit and available for tomorrow unfortunately but he will be for Saturday, which is excellent news.

“Amadou (Bakayoko) is progressing really well, Gethin (Jones) has started to do some pitch work and we’ll monitor that very closely.

“Obviously, Lloyd (Isgrove) is going under the knife this week. I’m losing track, we’ve got that many.”

Evatt also revealed head physio Matt Barrass – who won the Fabrice Muamba Award at last month’s North West Football Awards - is self-isolating after testing positive for Covid-19.

“Matt Barrass is off with Covid so that about sums it up – a full treatment room and no physio,” the Bolton boss added.

“But the other physios have stepped up really well and done great, and Matt comes out of quarantine this week.”

With no game last weekend, Evatt’s men have had a week to prepare for their League One clash with the Cod Army.

And Evatt admits the short break came at an ideal time given their injury struggles over the last month.

He said: “I think what we’ve managed to do is give the lads a bit of a break because we’ve only got a certain amount available, so it’s the same ones playing every week.

“And the ones who are carrying niggles, we’ve given the chance to let it settle or to have injections that will aid their cause.

“In general, after an awful October I think November was quite positive. With what we’ve had to deal with, to only lose one game in 90 minutes out of eight is pretty good.

“We know we’ve got work to do. We know we’ve got a big month coming up because we want to put ourselves in a position where we’re in touch come January, and we can then recruit, get bodies back and have a good second half to the season.”
