Wanderers are one of the clubs looking at Rochdale midfielder Aaron Morley, The Bolton News understands.
The Bury-born midfielder came through the ranks at Spotland, signing his first professional contract at 17, and is now a first team regular with the League Two club.
But with his contract up at the end of the season a group of clubs – including Bolton – have looked seriously into making a cash offer in January to try and tempt Dale into an early sale.
Shrewsbury are reported to have had a £150,000 bid for the 21-year-old turned down, and since then Championship sides Barnsley and Hull City, plus League One Portsmouth have also been linked.
Defensive midfielder, Morley, has made 16 appearances for Dale this season, scoring twice.
Wanderers are hoping to add to their squad before their next league outing on Tuesday against Wycombe and continue to be linked with AFC Wimbledon’s Anthony Hartigan.
Ian Evatt has previously claimed the Dons midfielder is “not on his radar” but reports elsewhere continue to suggest he is one of the three players Bolton are looking to land before the close of the window.
