Wanderers boss Ian Evatt has confirmed that Elias Kachunga will be available for Saturday’s clash with Plymouth at the UniBol.
The former Huddersfield man hasn’t featured since January after suffering a thigh injury against Hartlepool in the Papa John’s Trophy.
Evatt also revealed that Kyle Dempsey will miss Saturday’s game but the midfielder is set to return to training next week.
“Kacha will be available this weekend,” said the Bolton boss. “Everyone is fine other than that, obviously MJ escaped the threshold of yellow cards so he’s okay now.
“Kyle Dempsey will return to training on Tuesday, it is too soon this weekend. Other than that we are all good.”
Dapo Afolayan has been playing through a groin problem but the forward is available for the weekend.
“I think it’s more of a fatigue injury than anything else,” added Evatt. “It’s nothing muscular, it’s juts stiffness and soreness really from the amount of games he’s had to play.
“But he feels much better today. It’s settled down from what it was on Tuesday and he’s ready for Saturday.”
The Bolton boss has also been in contact with Gethin Jones, who remains absent following the death of his mother.
He said: “We’ve had discussions with him and feel until the funeral is over, he won’t be fully with us and focused, so it’s important he spends some time with his family and they mourn.
“Following the funeral, we’ll all be here to support him when he’s ready to come back.”
Evatt also gave positive news on Kieran Lee, who underwent a surgical procedure on a bone spur on his heel last month.
He added: “Kieran Lee is also progressing well, so he won’t be too far. His boot is off, the plaster is off.
“He’s been doing some light work on the grass, some running. Things are looking good. We could do with these experienced players that have played in big games.
“Kacha gives us something completely different to the others. He can play in the 10 - he’s a different type of 10 to Dapo and Kieran – and he can play as a nine. So another good option to have.”
