Jon Dadi Bodvarsson is the man in form – but Ian Evatt insists he is pleased with his entire strike force as the League One season draws to a close.
The Icelander scored twice to help his side to victory against Accrington, adding to Dapo Afolayan’s first-half strike – his 14th of the season.
Evatt believes Bodvarsson is now reaching his potential, having slowly built-up his fitness since January having been being frozen out at his former club Millwall.
“He is a wonderful man,” said the Bolton boss. “He is a really, really good guy, a great pro, a really nice guy and the lads have really taken to him and he is now starting to get fully up to speed.
“I think today when he came on and Friday he was absolutely brilliant. Led the line superbly, a fine example to everybody.
“We have different options now. At the moment it is not quite going Dion’s way but we know it will. He has just got to relax and then goals will come naturally again.
“Baka is Baka and does great things for us. We have Dapo, who has scored again today and also Kacha. It is a really good group of forward players.
“We will improve again in the summer and for now it’s just hard work, focus and make sure we carry this momentum through to next season.”
Wanderers have scored 25 goals this season in the last 15 minutes of games – which is more than any other club in the EFL.
They have also scored more second-half goals than anyone else in the division, with 45 to show from their 44 games.
Evatt has praised the character of his players this season and feels that since bringing seven new players to the UniBol in January he now has the attacking flexibility to changes games depending on the type of opposition.
“That is the belief that strikers give you,” he said. “When you have forward players you know can score, it doesn't really matter if the opposition score.
“The opposition are allowed to score against you, it happens in football and it is about how emotional you get and how you cope with it.
“I think we have managed now to deal with our emotions a lot better. We are coping with it a lot better and we are staying and sticking to the plan.
“Jon’s second goal was an outstanding finish and then the third one is really pleasing but we’ve got that confidence now that we can score at any point and especially late on in games.
“It isn’t a coincidence, we keep scoring late. You saw how fatigued and tired they were at the end.
“Yes, they had 10 men for the late five minutes, but before that you could see them starting to fatigue and spaces were starting to open up and then when you have players who can come and affect the game off the bench, regardless of who I start, it’s a real bonus for us.”
