Cheltenham boss Michael Duff felt his side conceded a “very dubious penalty” in their 2-1 defeat against Wanderers.
Kieran Sadlier put the Whites in front before substitute Amadou Bakayoko added a second from the spot.
Aaron Ramsey pulled one back on the stroke of full-time but Ian Evatt’s men held on to extend their unbeaten run to seven matches.
Referee Neil Hair pointed to the spot after Dapo Afolayan went down in the box under contract from Lewis Freestone.
But Duff says it was the wrong call and insists it was “a key decision” as Wanderers left the Jonny-Rocks Stadium with all three points.
“I thought we were the better team in the first half and we had good chances, you need to score those chances,” said the Robins chief.
“Ultimately, the penalty has been the key decision in the game. It is not a penalty, Lewis has been fouled.
“(Afolayan) has pulled him and then he has fallen into their lad. It is a foul but the first foul was on Lewis, and it ends up being a key decision in the game.
“They were better than us in the second half no doubt, but a corner and a very, very dubious penalty for all their good play.”
The result sees Duff’s men slip to 15th in the League One table, while the Whites are 10th with one game to go before the end of the season.
Evatt’s men are back in action on Saturday, April 30 when they welcome relegation-threatened Fleetwood to the UniBol (12:30pm).
