Meanwhile, another of Cork City’s emerging stars – defender John O’Donovan – could be off to Bolton Wanderers.

The reigning FAI Schools Player of the Year has been part of Colin Healy’s pre-season plans, featuring against Dundalk last Friday, but impressed Bolton’s hierarchy during a recent trial at the League One club. City are already facing the prospects of losing Franco Umeh to O’Brien’s club, Palace.

Nothing in that Ward rumour. Jerome will be a part of the coaching staff from the summer onwards. I’ve heard Charlie Wyke will be joining if we go up. Connor Bradley and James Trafford both want to stay regardless of which league we play in.

I very much doubt that Boggers, not only does he have a serious heart problem but his current wages are way out of our orbit and I think he’s still under contract at Wigan. They’ll obviously want to offload him but not unless they pay his contract up.

There's no chance of Bradley coming back if we don't go up and virtually no chance if we do - Klopp has said the player will be with Liverpool for pre-season. I doubt Evans will risk not signing a RWB on the slim chance Bradley comes back after pre-season.

Bolton Wanderers join chase for Lee Bonis

In-demand Larne striker Lee Bonis is in the crosshairs of both Michael O’Neill and Bolton Wanderers this summer, Sunday Life Sport can reveal.

League One club Bolton are the latest club to express a strong interest in the 23-year-old striker, who signed for Larne from Portadown in January 2022 for a record £100,000.

He has been an integral part of Larne’s historic title success this season, with 15 goals in all competitions.

Bolton join Derby County and Dundee United in the chase for his signature, while Wanderers manager Ian Evatt must wait on the outcome of his team’s likely League One play-off games before making a move.

Sunday Life Sport understands Larne’s valuation of Bonis is around £300,000 and the club is bracing itself for bids.

Bonis’ progress has also put him in line for a call up to O’Neill’s Northern Ireland squad.

Bolton Wanderers linked with Wimbledon forward Zach Robinson

Wanderers are reportedly “keeping tabs on” Wimbledon youngster Zach Robinson ahead of the summer transfer window.

The 20-year-old forward has spent the past season on loan in the Scottish Championship with Dundee.

Reading, Blackpool and Hull are monitoring Robinson, according to a report by The South London Press.

He has impressed since the start of the campaign, managing 12 goals and five assists in 34 appearances.

Robinson’s goals have helped Dundee climb to the top of the table and they could clinch the title against Queen’s Park tonight.

The forward made seven appearances in League One last season and scored in a 1-1 draw against Charlton. However, his campaign was cut short after picking up a hamstring injury.

Speaking at the time, then interim boss Mark Bowen said: “I have been delighted with everything he has done – his application of things and the way he has taken information on.

“For a lad of such a young age and little experience, he has been a real bright spark for us.”

Robinson, who has also had loans at Basingstoke, Leatherhead and Woking among others, is entering the final 12 months of his contract.

Wanderers have also been linked with a move for Northern Irish striker Lee Bonis, who has caught the eye for Larne this season.

Bonis has scored 15 goals in all competitions, helping his club clinch the NIFL Premiership title for the first time in their history. He is also said to be on Michael O’Neill’s radar for a potential international call-up ahead of this summer’s European Championship qualifiers.

The Whites brought in Victor Adeboyejo and Cameron Jerome on permanent deals in the January window, while Dan Nlundulu arrived on loan from Southampton.

Ian Evatt’s men wrap up their League One campaign against Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium this weekend. They will either face Barnsley or Sheffield Wednesday in the play-offs depending on results on the final day.
