Must agree with this. I went to Amsterdam in November and I've never met so many polite people. And the place was much cleaner than any other major European city. Even the ladies in the windows looked clean.
Sound like the Spanish inquisition here now, but I do like knowing where people stayed and where they visited during their stay. May sound nosey but just very inquisitive.... So which hotel, which bars, did you go to Anne Franks, Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh, Museumplein/Concertgebouw?
The only time when Amsterdam not clean is after a big Ajax match (normally against Feyenoord), after New Years Eve, during Queens Night/Day, or when the street cleaners go on strike (like they did 18 months ago for 6 weeks!!!).
Even near me, as I live 20 minutes outside the Dam, I have street cleaners cleaning the streets outside my abode every morning, including Sundays, at about 7am!!!
Funny story about yesterday with regards to the women in the windows....
One of my mates, whom I knew lived in the RLD, invited me back to his to pick up a few DVDs (non porn). I have never been to his apartment before as always made some sort of excuse as I don't really like the RLD area (too crowded, too many druggies and if being honest just seems to sleazy for me) - he actually has to go through one of the windows to get to his apartment! That was well weird and the weirdest thing is the girls know my mate by name and even had a chat with him whilst entering the bulding (the working-womens "rooms" are downstairs and my mate lives on 2nd floor). I did ask him if he got a discount, but he says he doesn't use the services of the ones he knows - I left the questioning at that point! As I was leaving I think the women were busy as there was no one there and I left a solitudinal bloke was walking past and gave me a dirty look!!!!
