There is lots more to come from Wanderers, says Ian Evatt 14320725

Ian Evatt says there is “loads of improvement” to come from Wanderers ahead of Saturday’s clash with Wycombe.

Evatt believes his side have given themselves a good base to build from following their 1-1 draw against Ipswich on the opening day.

But the Bolton boss still thinks they are capable of much more ahead of a tough test against the Chairboys, who kicked off the campaign with a comfortable 3-0 victory against Burton Albion.

“I thought we showed more resilience and we looked harder to beat (against Ipswich). The game was a bit too open for my liking second half.

“We didn’t really have control in possession and in moments of transitions and counter attacking opportunities we didn’t take them because we didn’t execute that first pass.

“Having said that, they really dug in and fought for each other and when Traff (James Trafford) needed to make a save, he did and that’s what he is there for.

“But there is loads of improvement to come. That’s a good base to build from and we’re looking forward to next week.

“I think this and possibly Sheffield Wednesday away is going to be the hardest games on paper of the season.

“I think they’re going to be really strong this season, Ipswich, and going back to last season, we’d have lost this type of game and we haven’t done today which is credit to us.”

Wycombe finished sixth in League One last season, narrowly missing out on promotion to the Championship after losing out against Sunderland in the play-off final at Wembley.

Gareth Ainsworth’s side recorded a 2-0 win against Wanderers when the sides last met at the UniBol back in January, with Brandon Hanlan and Jack Grimmer getting on the scoresheet.

Stupendous! There's more to come after the first game of the season? Incredible. I thought the season was over.

This is not news.

Damn right there's loads of improvement to come - or at least loads work on trying to improve.
He can start by beating Wycombe which is not going to be a stroll in the park.
