Wanderers are set for their biggest home gate of the season so far when they host Derby next week.
The Whites are approaching 23,000 tickets sold, according to the club website. This includes a sold-out away end of 5,200 travelling fans.
The previous highest attendance at the University of Bolton Stadium this season was the 2-0 defeat against Sheffield Wednesday back in August. More than 22,000 supporters were watching on as the Owls struck twice in a ruthless three-minute spell to secure the three points.
Wanderers’ biggest home gate in the third tier came against Blackburn Rovers in March 1973, with more than 33,000 fans in attendance at Burnden Park.
There were also more than 23,000 watching on as Bolton were held to a goalless draw against Chesterfield back April in 2017. The club went on to clinch automatic promotion to the Championship that year.
Only Derby, Ipswich, Sheffield Wednesday and Portsmouth have had a higher average home attendance than the Whites in League One since the start of the campaign.
Tickets remain on sale for the Derby fixture and are available from £25 for adults, £20 for over-65s and under-23s, £15 for under-18s and £8 for under-12s.
The Rams enter the game on the back of an emphatic 4-0 win against Forest Green, with David McGoldrick scoring a hat trick.
Paul Warne’s side are unbeaten in their last eight league matches in total, with their last defeat coming against Ipswich on October 21.
Wanderers haven’t faced Derby in the league since April 2019. The East Midlands club ran out 4-0 winners after a brilliant display by current England star Mason Mount.
The Whites’ last win in the fixture came at the UniBol several months prior. Craig Noone got the decisive goal that day.
