Soft conditions on the training ground at Lostock have contributed to a few minor injuries for Wanderers in the build up to this weekend’s game at Wycombe.
Cameron Jerome pulled out of the squad to face MK Dons in midweek and Conor Bradley – who had been serving the final game of a suspension – had also been struck down with a back injury.
Evatt said recent conditions have been problematic but that both players would hopefully be available for the trip to Adams Park.
“It is nothing really serious,” he explained. “Cameron had a slight back spasm.
“Conor Bradley had a back spasm as well and would have missed the game had he not been suspended.
“The pitches at Lostock, as I keep saying, are really soft. And sometimes the lads are losing their footing or it puts a lot of pressure on backs and joints.
“We have had a couple of muscle spasms and they are nothing serious but it is enough to keep them out.”
Wanderers have coped well with the absence of Conor Bradley over the last two games, keeping a pair of clean sheets and rifling 10 goals.
Gethin Jones has reverted to right wing-back and been a key man over both games, much to his manager’s delight.
“You forget that it is where Gethin has played the majority of his football for us,” he said.
“And it shows how well he has done slipping in as a right-sided centre-back.
“Gethin has been great and I am happy for them all at the moment because they seem happy, they seem in really good form, but I do think there is more to come from them all.
“I think we have exciting players but they need to stay humble, keep working hard and striving for improvement.”
Declan John’s return to prominence has also been a feature of the last few weeks.
The Welshman looked to be on his way out of the club in January, having dropped well out of contention, but has since fought back to reclaim his place.
“Declan is a good player and that has never been up for debate,” Evatt said. “We just need Declan to be Declan, and focus on what is required from him in and out of possession.
“He has been brilliant since he came back into the team and if he carries on with those performances he will stay in the team. It is that simple, we are really happy with how he is doing.”
