TEAM NEWS: Wanderers handed double injury boost for Port Vale test 16487625

Kyle Dempsey and Cameron Jerome are both back available for Saturday’s clash with Port Vale.

Dempsey, pictured, limped off at Wycombe last weekend and was absent from the squad against Accrington on Wednesday night.

The midfielder had played an important role in recent weeks, forming an effective partnership with Aaron Morley in the middle of the pitch.

Meanwhile, Jerome also missed the trip to the Wham Stadium due to a back spasm but is now back in contention.

Evatt was delighted with his side’s effort against Accrington despite being without several members of the first-team squad.

Gethin Jones also came off the bench against the Reds despite being forced off at half time at the weekend.

The Bolton boss also shared an update on George Johnston, who has been sidelined since the 2-1 victory at Charlton last month.

“We had Nelson (Khumbeni) and a keeper on the bench and still didn’t have seven subs, so it shows you where we are at,” he told The Bolton News.

“But Gethin’s injury is fine, Kyle Dempsey’s injury is fine. George Johnston is back running, George Thomason is back.

“The cavalry is returning and I look at the changing rooms and the lads who weren’t involved, with Shola (Shoretire), Dan (Nlundulu), Victor (Adeboyejo), Cameron.

“We have got a really good group of players, but we are going to need them because we are getting to the nitty gritty of the league campaign now and that is really important.”

Evatt says there is a strong bond in the Bolton dressing room and also made sure to give credit to Dapo Afolayan, who played an important role in the Papa Johns Trophy earlier this season.

The versatile attacker has made a promising start to life in Germany with St Pauli since his move in the January window.

“They are an amazing group,” he added. “Also a special mention to Dapo, who has scored some important goals in this competition as well.

“He texted me earlier to say good luck and that he would be watching. Thanks to Daps for his achievements for us and the goals that he scored to help get us here.

“I know things are going very well for him in Germany, so keep going Daps. We are looking out for you and we will hopefully get you over for Wembley.”
