TEAM NEWS: Evatt reveals how Wanderers are shaping up for Burton 16675857

Ian Evatt has confirmed Wanderers have no fresh injury concerns ahead of Tuesday night’s trip to Burton.

The Whites were down to the bare bones during their 1-0 win at Oxford over the weekend, with Luke Mbete joining Ricardo Santos, Eoin Toal, Jack Iredale and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson on the injury list.

MJ Williams played in the middle of the back three at the Kassam Stadium, with George Johnston returning to his natural role as a wide centre-back.

Evatt admits their recent injury problems have been far from ideal heading into the business end of the campaign.

But the Bolton boss was pleased to see his players “dig in” against Oxford and secure the three points despite being under pressure at times.

“The 17 we have got available are still available so it has not got any worse over the weekend, which is a positive,” he said.

“I think we have just been unlucky but what we are doing is still finding a way, which is vitally important.

“It is not us, it is not the way we necessarily want to do things. I think we have seen it in spells – the first half hour on Saturday was excellent.

“After that we have just found a way to dig in and get three points. It is not our way but it is a way, and at this stage of the season that is what is important.”

Wanderers have plenty of strength in depth when everyone is available, and Evatt has had to make some big selection decisions at times.

His choices have been simplified in recent weeks due to the number of bodies out of action, but the Bolton boss admits he would rather have to make the tough calls.

“I would prefer it to be the other way,” he grinned. “I would rather have the opportunity to make big decisions. But it is what it is, and we have got who we’ve got. We have got to keep going.

“It is again great testament to the players and the squad we have got that we have been able to cope with the ones we have lost.

“I don’t think many teams in this division could lost the players we have lost and still find a way to get results.

“We have lost four in one position and are still managing to keep clean sheets, so that has to be celebrated. We are not deeming it a negative in any way, shape or form that we have come under pressure.”
