Leyton Orient boss on Bolton's 1-0 win against Shrewsbury 16699510

Leyton Orient boss Richie Wellens praised Josh Sheehan’s “fantastic” strike during Wanderers’ 1-0 win against Shrewsbury.

Sheehan got the decisive goal just after the hour mark, finding the top corner with a stunning strike from 25 yards.

The Whites could have won by a bigger margin, with Conor Bradley and Dion Charles both denied by the woodwork.

Shrewsbury goalkeeper Marko Marosi also made impressive stops to deny Kyle Dempsey, Victor Adeboyejo and Elias Kachunga, while the visitors failed to register a shot on target.

Wellens, who has led Orient to the League Two title this season, says it was “total domination” from Wanderers.

Speaking as a pundit on EFL highlights show, he said: “A fantastic finish by Josh Sheehan. He has got that, he is a really good player.

“Shrewsbury didn’t have a shot on target, Bolton were in total domination.

"Ian Evatt’s team do like to control the ball and defensively, they are really good. A deserved 1-0 win.”

The result saw Wanderers climb to fifth in the League One table and they still have a game in hand on the sides below them.

However, they are only above sixth-place Derby on goal difference after the Rams beat Burton 1-0 at Pride Park.

Evatt’s men are back at the UniBol on Tuesday night when they take on relegation-threatened Accrington.

John Coleman’s side find themselves in 23rd place and are desperate for points as they battle to beat the drop.

Wanderers came from behind to record a memorable 3-2 victory at the Wham Stadium earlier this season, with Dapo Afolayan getting the winner 15 minutes from time.

The sides also met in the Papa Johns Trophy semi-final, with Elias Kachunga and Aaron Morley both on target that day.

The Reds have lost their last four matches in the league following Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Portsmouth.
