Bolton get busy start to ticket sales for Barnsley play-off 16761106

Wanderers are reporting brisk business on ticket sales for the first leg of the League One play-off semi-final against Barnsley.

More than 15,000 tickets have now been sold for the game, with club members able to purchase seats from tomorrow morning.

The huge rush to sell tickets in a five-day window, starting with a Bank Holiday Monday, has created challenges for the Ticket Office, but staff are working hard to resolve any issues and ensure that season ticket holders have their opportunity to book their spot.

Barnsley – who also use the Ticketmaster system – have reported technical hiccups regarding the payment process but are thanking supporters for their continued patience.

There have been some big queues outside Bolton Central over Monday and Tuesday, with supporters eager to make sure they can cheer Ian Evatt’s side on in their first play-off fixture for more than two decades.

Their last play-off semi-final was on May 17, 2001, and finished in a 3-0 victory against West Brom with goals from Gudni Bergsson, Kevin Nolan and Michael Ricketts. The Whites went on to beat Preston North End in the final at the Millennium Stadium and reach the Premier League.

Tickets for the second leg go on sale later this week, and Wanderers are expecting their allocation of just over 2,000 to go quickly.

The Bolton News understands that Wanderers chose to offer only the upper half of the South Stand to Barnsley’s travelling support for the first leg after being told what share they would be given for the return game on Friday, May 19.- It is understood they did request a bigger allocation.

The club did the same for the visit of Cambridge United in April, for a Family Day fixture, and attracted a crowd of 24,377.

Wanderers season ticket holders who have not yet purchased their seat should read the club’s online guide HERE before making their purchase.

Seats will go on general sale to all supporters with a club e-ticketing account (registered before April 1, 2023) from 9am on Wednesday, May 10.

Tickets are priced at £20 for adults, £15 for Over-65s and Under-23s, and £10 for Under-18s and Under-12s.

Wanderers have said: “We ask all supporters for their patience and understanding during this very busy period for our Ticket Office staff. All phone calls and emails will be answered as promptly as possible.”
