They can really hurt you - Lincoln boss wary of Bolton threat 17585309

Lincoln boss Michael Skubala says his side must be “on it defensively” ahead of their clash with Wanderers.

Only second-place Peterborough have scored more League One goals than the Whites since the start of the campaign.

Skubala has been impressed with what he has seen from Ian Evatt’s side and insists they can “really hurt” teams.

“I think they are really good,” he told the club’s YouTube channel. “They have been building something for two or three years really, coming up from League Two and dominating.

“Then coming into League One and the way they play – pace and power, but with quality.

“They hit a little bit of a dip in the last two games (before Leyton Orient), but I think they are definitely going to be up there for automatic promotion and they can really hurt you when they are on it.”

Dion Charles and Jon Dadi Bodvarsson started up front against Leyton Orient, while Victor Adeboyejo and Cameron Jerome had positive impacts off the bench.

“They probably have a luxury we don’t have at the moment,” Skubala grinned. “They have big options, strong options, they can change to one or two nines.

“They have forwards who can score goals, they are a real handful up top and we have to be on it defensively.”

Lincoln were beaten 3-1 by Derby in their last outing despite Danny Mandroiu’s penalty on the stroke of half time.

That fixture took place a couple of days earlier than Wanderers’ win against Leyton Orient. When asked if the extra time to prepare gives his side ad advantage, Skubala replied: “Yeah, a little bit maybe.

“We would prefer it that way round. I don’t think it’s enough to make a difference though.

“If you look at it, they had two weeks’ break in the international break and we didn’t so we are still game-to-game. I think it probably evens itself out a little bit.”

The Imps boss shared a generally positive update on the injury front but is waiting on the fitness of one unnamed player.

“I think we are OK at the minute,” he explained. “We might have a little knock but I don’t think it is anything serious, we will see.

“A few players are stiff and sore, which is natural and with so many games in a short amount of time in the Christmas period, you are going to get that.

“We have got to manage the squad and we have good options if we need.”
