Wanderers and Wigan Athletic have both been charged by the FA following the “mass confrontation” after the final whistle at the DW Stadium.
A melee broke out between both sets of players after Martial Godo was accused of goading the Bolton fans behind the goal.
A statement on the official FA Spokesperson account read: “Wigan Athletic and Bolton Wanderers have been charged after a mass confrontation at their EFL League One game on Tuesday, February 27.
“It’s alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players did not behave in an improper and/or provocative way following the final whistle.
“Wigan Athletic and Bolton Wanderers both have until Wednesday, March 6 to provide their responses.”
Wigan ran out 1-0 winners on the night, with Stephen Humphrys getting the decisive goal during the second half.
After the game, Ian Evatt said: “Godo was running basically the whole length of our fans with his hands to his ears. He was goading them and it is not right, we won’t accept it.
“They probably deserved to celebrate in front of their own fans because of the amount they ran in that game but they shouldn’t be doing that to our supporters, it isn’t right.”
