TEAM NEWS: Evatt issues updates on Dempsey, Toal and Baxter 18687475

Kyle Dempsey is a doubt for the visit of Peterborough after coming off at half time with a knee issue against Birmingham.

Wanderers are waiting on the result of a scan but Ian Evatt expects to be without the midfielder against Posh.

Eoin Toal could also be back in contention if he comes through training with no setbacks and passes the relevant tests.

Evatt had hoped to have the defender back available at St Andrew’s but he was unable to feature against the Blues.

Nathan Baxter is also close to being back in contention, although Saturday’s fixture may come slightly too soon for the shot stopper.

Jordi Osei-Tutu is set to return to training next week following a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring problem.

Will Forrester returned to the pitch at Birmingham, although Gethin Jones is not quite ready to be called upon.

Carlos Mendes Gomes has picked up a niggle which has hindered his road back from a long-term Achilles injury.

Bolton made two changes in midweek, with Jay Matete and Scott Arfield both coming into the midfield as Evatt tried a different approach against the league leaders.

The Wanderers boss admits the injury situation is far from ideal but is keen to bounce back against Peterborough.

“We have got to try to find a way,” said Evatt. “We have won five out of the last seven league games and drawn the other one, which we should have won, so all is not bad.

“We are not where we want to be but - with the games played early in the season etc. – it can give you a bit of a false position.

“On Tuesday, with the personnel available, we tried to formulate a plan to try to be in the game and have an opportunity to get a positive result in the last 10, 15, 20 minutes.

“We did that and just didn’t take the big chance when it came, which was frustrating. It is not how I want us to play but with the personnel available, and the way they set up, it was probably the only way we could have gone about things.

“Saturday will be different, of course. We are at home and if Toaly is back available, that helps in terms of personnel and what we want to do. We will formulate a different plan.”
