Lolos urging Wanderers to step on the gas in key battle at Stockport County 18740392

Klaidi Lolos has stoked the flames for the big game at Stockport County insisting: “We’ll be going full throttle!”

The summer signing believes a fast start is key at Edgeley Park to capitalise on any lasting vulnerability the home team may still be feeling after their 5-0 drubbing at the hands of Wycombe on Tuesday night.

Lolos scored against Stockport last season playing for Crawley in League Two and heads into what is sure to be a partisan atmosphere this afternoon confident Wanderers can continue their climb up the League One table.

“We need to start well – come out of the blocks firing,” he said. “We look to do that against anyone but knowing the result they got the other night I think we know an early goal could be even more important.

“We need to go full throttle and give the fans something to go home happy about.

“It’s a local derby and we’re looking forward to the game. They didn’t get what they wanted against Wycombe but I am sure it will still be a tough test.”

Lolos scored for Crawley against Stockport last season as both clubs made their way out of League Two and he has not been surprised to see them make a decent start, with Dave Challior’s side currently 10th beaten just three times in 14 games.

“They were a side last year that got used to winning,” he said. “They know how to do it.

“They have got some good players and can cause trouble, and just the same as always we will respect the opponent, but we won’t fear them. We know what we can do. As long as we apply ourselves properly we will be fine.”

Lolos started the game as Wanderers were knocked out of the FA Cup at Walsall last weekend but says the message on the training ground on Monday morning made sure the players did not dwell on the result.

“It was basically, get over it as soon as possible because football doesn’t wait for you. It is another day in the office, another day to get better,” he explained.

“It was a shame to come out of the cup so soon but the main focus is the league, that’s what we are working on.

“You can’t dwell on things. It can be a bit rough at the weekend when you have lost a game but as soon as Monday comes around and you get back on the training ground, we do analysis, but that’s it, done.”

Wanderers have won six of their last eight in the league and could go fourth in the table with the right outcomes this afternoon. Lolos is also encouraged that they have been able to move between formations to keep opposition sides guessing.

“Our form has been good, we have won a lot of games in different ways, which I think is important and it shows what type of side we are as well,” he said.

“Hopefully we can continue that form and continue going that way.

“You can’t be too predictable. You can’t carry on doing the same thing unless you are Barcelona and you had Messi, Suarez and Neymar.

“It is credit to the staff because different games require different plans and we have had some of them spot on. We just need to keep our feet on the ground now, stay focussed and carry on to the end.”
