It is difficult. And remember in real life you don't just have one decision to make and then you get a break until the next clip. Players can run on and offside four times in ten seconds in various passing moves. At the same time we are looking out for other infringements, fouls, handballs, and who the ball came off last for corners, throwins etc, deflections, did it cross the touchline...

...plus, in the video you are placed in the perfect position to get the decision correct. In real life you are running up and down the line keeping up with play - not just stood still knowing there is an offside decision to make in the next few seconds. And you don't get 10 seconds to think about it either.

It just shows how difficult it is to officiate. The game is played at such a fast level and the officials are only human. I like the way they have an adjudication panel in rugby. It stops a lot of controversial decisions and nobody can complain that they were shafted by the ref.

Yesterday in the arriva prem they trialled for the first time ref cam. I think this would be a good move if the FA decided to trial it. As a viewer we can see first hand how difficult a job these guys have. We can see what the refS view is all in real time.

I am all for modern technology because it eliminates human error. Contentious issues like diving could be nipped in the bud and the cheats could be punished.

Managers would no longer be able to claim that their players were hard done by. It works well in rugby and tennis so I really don't see why it hasn't been introduced sooner.

Look at our goal against Germany in the last World Cup. It was clearly a goal to everybody other than the officials. Bad decisions can totally change a game. A quick review with a properly approved panel would give everyone time to calm down and there would be no complaints.
