Anyone been to New Zealand?

I'm considering going to New Zealand on holiday, in August/September, for about 3 weeks. usually go for a 3/4 * bed and breakfast accommodation. (happy to try a camper van and driving around)

Anyone suggest the best way to see NZ, and what to see ?

I'm hoping to go there next year. I found the Lonely Planet guide gave me some idea of what to see and do while over there. It's also good for advice on accommodation.
