Only half a game, but going in the right direction. Can't see Stuey being thrown in just yet.

Feeling good about the increased options, but it will all come down to what DF does with them.

To answer the question of the thread title, my team for Millwall would be:-

Lonergan (really impressed me against Sunderland)

Ricketts......Knight....Ream...Alonso

Lee.....Pratley....Spearing......Petrov

.............C.Davies.....Sordell....

The team is going to be a hell of a lot stronger by the end of January, perhaps not by Saturday but by the Crystal Palace and Peterborough games we could see a teams looking like:

---------------Bogdan-------------

Riley-----Wheater---Ream-----Alonso

----------Andrews--Holden---------

-----Chungy----M.Davies----Eagles---

-------------SKD/C.Davies-------------

---------------Bogdan-------------

Riley-----Wheater---Ream-----Alonso

Eagles---Holden---Pratley---Petrov

-------C.Davies---Sordell/N'gog----

With a few more transfers we could get replacements for LB, RB and hopefully CB and there would be no more need for Mears or Knight to ever start again! im looking forward to the end of the month.

To be fair to Pratley the guy has stepped his game up in the last 3 games, i'd rather see him start than andrews at the moment.

Our midfield will look pretty tasty with Holden Spearing and Mavies in the centre, that's if DF sticks to 4-5-1.

By the way did any anyone notice that DF kept 2, yes 2 players on the half way line against Sunderland for their corners?

Pratley has improved recently and is starting to show the type of form he had at Swansea where he did a great box-to-box job. At 27 he should be at the top of his game and although he'll never be world class, he can do a decent job for us if he keeps it going. Still thinks he needs to improve his tackling and start scoring a few goals again, but totally agree he's been decent recently.

Putting 2 players on the halfway line ensures at least two of the opposition don't go up for corners so it's a good thing inasmuch that it reduces the chaos a mass of bodies in front of goal can cause - plus there's a better chance of holding the ball up when it comes out from defence. Makes sense to me anyway.

Lofty, I notice you have not included Spearing in either of your line-ups ? Is it because you don't rate him ? I only ask because I am pretty sure part of his loan condition with Liverpool is that he must be given game time if fit.

No to be fair I do rate him and I wouldn't mind if he was stuck in where Pratley and Andrews are in those line ups.

I just thought Andrews and Holden could work well and with Pratleys recent improvements he deserves a bit of game time, he might be able to play a Muambaish role with Holden but with more ability to attack as well.

I couldn't see Holden and M.Davies working great in a two man midfield though.

I think most people on here rate Spearing (me included) but he was brought in as cover for injuries and now that our own players are coming back would prefer to see them in action. I think it's bad enough that by bringing in loanees our own fringe players aren't given game time to develop, but it would be really sick if our first team players are not allowed to play because of the terms of a loan deal. Spearing out - with a thank you note.

I like Spearing but I also agree with the above comments. If we don't play him then Liverpool could recall him. As he wasn't a DF loan signing it is going to be interesting to see what happens. Especially as we are probably paying a percentage of his wages.

The irony is I don't think Liverpool want him now that Leiva is fit again, Allen has joined them and Shelvey is coming through. If they'd let us sign him at a reasonable price I'd be happy, but they won't - pretty much what I thought when he came to us.

So we're stuck with a player who wants to play for Liverpool but probably won't - and will end up going to the highest bidder.

I think loanees are fine if they are guaranteeing results week-in week-out but we've had loads of loanees and the results haven't come. But we also pay the additional price of not developing our own players e.g. instead of Warnock I'd like to have seen Blakeman or Alonso have a go because if they make it - great - and if they don't we can get rid, but whilst loanees are taking up the playing slots our own players are in limbo.

It may well be, but as I haven't seen the terms of his loan conditions I cannot attest to the veracity of your comment.

To be fair its written in a lot of loans that the player can be recalled at any time, if he wasn't getting game time he would be recalled and loaned somewhere he could.

But if we don't want to play him we don't have to, all they could do is recall him.

But he will get games so everything should be ok Very Happy

Dunno Lofty. With the imminent return of Holden and Vela plus the possible signing of Gregus, midfield places are at a premium. We already have trouble finding starting slots for all our midfielders so maybe Spearing is surplus to requirements.

It could be much worse.

There's a grown man pretending to be a child on a couple of other Bolton forums.

Seems like paedophilic behaviour in my opinion.

Certainly fooled most of the gullible ones on those forums - some are even trying to help him out with his pretend exams right now.

It's like grooming in reverse!

Very odd behaviour - I’m amazed that these forum owners allow him to continue, are they really that desperate for posters?

This is a good point.

But I suppose if hes playing/needed then everything is ok.

And if he isn't playing/isn't needed then his recall wouldn't effect us anyway, except saving us money.

Ive not expected anything from Vela but now hes got a lot of praise from that reserve game and Freedman keeps mentioning him as if hes very much in his plans Im of raising my hopes for him.
