It has emerged that Mr Camoron and his "slashing crew" are set to ground the iconic Red Arrows as part of defence cuts. Perhaps they could scrap the changing of the guard as well under the same banner and maybe trooping the colour. All provide historic attractions for us, the servants, and many tourists.
Do you think they'll cut back on the "Bolly" they sup at the taxpayer's expense?

Strange how we can find the money to send troops to Mali ( a former French Colony ) to train the Mali security services.

Stories are emerging that they've all still got their snouts in the trough - second homes in London where they make a fortune, chauffeur driven cars to work so they don't have to come in contact with the likes of you and me.
Millions wasted on NHS computer systems that are never booted up because they don't work.
There is so much waste around what the govermnent does that all I have for politicians of all colours is contempt. As said in the thread- the Red Arrows are iconic- one of the great aerial sights in the UK. They should remain and the government should make sure that they do

These cnuts are worse than that cnut Thatcher! As has been previously said there'll be a call to get kids shinning up the chimneys at Battersea Power station soon, and limp dick Nick will just stand idly by at the front watching!

I was quite pleased to see that Cumbria gave them the thumbs down when they tried to bury a shitload of nuclear waste in the Lake District. Surely they could find somewhere in London to deposit the shoite?

I agree with the location RT but they know how to deal with it up there, been doin it for years. On the down side, a lot of "toffs"(known as off comers) have houses up there so if they bury it in London they'll just all camp up there!

Rammy, you mention the NHS computer farce. This sort of waste is happening all over the place, but bear in mind who this money is going to. its not the Civil Servants. After the labour government started pushing PFI, control of the money spent started to shift away from the public sector. You will now find that nearly all government departments have a high number of contractors, (all working on at least twice the wages of the public servant), who charge ridiculous amounts for failed and wasted projects. The contractors often blame the government for changing their minds as to what they want, but this is sometimes down to the spiralling cost of the project, brought on by the contracted company, who haven't captured the full or correct requirements in the first place. Unfortuantely, both the last, and this, government allow this practice to go on, each claiming that they are using and supporting the private sector. The public sector didn't have a scooby about how to deal in the commercial world, but they're are learning very quickly. The point is, the high costs of failed projects are due to the incompetence of the governement departments to control their own contractors, and the contractors greed.

A large number of newer police stations in Greater Manchester are run by PFI. My own local police station which was built less than 15 years was PFI controlled. It's now scheduled to close as it costs too much to run!
