It's being held tonight, anybody interested in them?

I generally wait and watch whatever new film I fancy seeing when it comes out on DVD but now and again I do take Mrs Sluffy to the cinema to see a film she wants to see.

Here's a very good summary of all the top contenders for tonight’s awards - (click on all the tabs - film. actor, actress, etc) - well worth a look if like me your not really up to date with the current movies and performers.

Who do you think will win?

I usually flick it on for a bit - the good thing about the Oscars is lots of DVD Screeners are released or movies still at the cinema, which are then shared online...

You can never tell with the Oscars. I have always thought that the end result is fixed. If I was having a bet I would go for Daniel Day Lewis playing good old Wholesome Abe. The yanks are big on the Uncle Sam patriotism angle.

I like the award season, interesting to see what films get picked.

I've seen Argo - the supposed favourite for best film - thought it was ok, but definitely not deserving of all this praise. Just a nuts and bolts drama with a 5 minute bit of suspense at the end.

meh.

Christoph Waltz has to win best supporting actor for Django, Daniel Day Lewis is 50-1 ON to win best actor so guess that is pretty much a certainty.

DDL to win a record 3rd Best Actor OSCAR.

Les Mis to win at least 2 OSCARS

Adele for the theme tune to Skyfall to win

Not bothered about anything else.

Day-Lewis could play a dead body and win an Oscar, for some reason.

Funny thing is DDL was born in England and is English but proclaims to be an Irishman and when he last won Best Ator he played a character in Gangs of New York and threw a knife/dagger into a poster of Abraham Lincoln!!!

I enjoyed his performances in The last of the Mohicans, In the name of the father and Gangs of New York. He is a great actor but he isn't in the same mould as Arnie, Jean Claude Van Damme or Sylvester Stallone.

DDL won it by a comfortable distance. Did anyone see Shirley Bassey performing at the Oscars ? She might be 76 but she doesn't look it and she can still belt out the notes. A brilliant talented woman is our Shirley.
