I wasn't Petrov's biggest fan, but we've lacked a player of his description this season.
There are advantages to playing right-footers on the left, but just as many disadvantages.
Whether it's Eagles or Lee, too often the left winger is cutting inside, for it's easier to do that than take it past the full back, and in a useful direction. This means too much of our attacking play is going through the centre, and we aren't fully utilising the left side of the park.

Yes we do. But is there a winger in the country who can cross these days? I think the art of crossing died a long time ago.

Nah, we get width on the left from Alonso and he and Chungy link up well. It's not something we desperately need imo.

Said after that pre season game in america years ago we should stick Alonso on the left wing.

Will they still be with us in a few weeks time though?

I don't think they will.

Wylde is quick and can deliver a great ball, but remains out of favour as does the U18's winger who is good. Both can tackle back as well. Not Dougie's style or system IMO.

Would we really want him though? -

A footballer who admitted a drunken assault on two paramedics has avoided being sent to jail.

Adam Hammill, 24, of Bootle, lashed out at the women who had come to his aid outside Moniques nightclub in Liverpool in the early hours of 7 October.

The winger, a former Liverpool FC youth player, is on loan to Huddersfield Town from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

He was sentenced to 12 weeks' imprisonment suspended for 12 months at Liverpool Magistrates Court.

The court heard Hammill had collapsed inside the club and was taken outside by security staff.

But when the ambulance staff came to help him and tried to put him in a wheelchair he lashed out.

Lionel Cope, prosecuting, said one of the women was left with a bleeding nose after Hammill struck her.

The footballer had been celebrating a friend's birthday and had drunk up to 15 pints of lager and several shots.

Priority is midfielders who can put their foot on the ball and pass to a white shirt. Get that sorted out first.

I don't think midfielder who can pass is the main problem, the problem I found on Tuesday night was the lack of movement for whenever any of our players had the ball, we were and usually are very static when it comes to movement.

We don't seem to use our supposed wingers as wingers these days. Dougie likes them to come inside and create openings on the inside rather than the outside, so for that reason I don't think we really need a left footed "winger".
