What are the Play-off Rules

I never followed the Champs before.....so can somebody explain the playoff rules?
For example...does it matter if we finish 6th, 5th, 4th ? does that come into play at all....who plays who?
In the USA this would be seeded ....e.g. best record plays the worst record etc.

3rd play 6th and 4th play 5th.

I think 3rd and 4th team have their home games first also.

4th Vs 5th

3rd and 4th teams have home advantage in the second leg.

Away goals do not count.

Winner of the final gets promoted.
The losing semi-finalists go into a play off to decide which club gets mocked the most for even thinking they were good enough.
