Why do they support Man U ? they never go and just because they buy the shirt every year , and watch them in the pub down south they think they're big UTD fans.

I would be embarrassed, why don't they support a team near them that they can watch .

Somebody who has been brought up and lives in London supporting UTD should be sent to prison for being a WUM .

I can just imagine pubs down south when UTD win the title.

scum.

They are glory hunters who have been brought up watching united on TV.

Same as the Irish contingent and Liverpool 'fans' from elsewhere - all stems from TV.

I Dont see how people just cant support their local teams.

Most of this site seems to slag Wigan fans off when I suspect a high percentage of them are actually from Wigan. You can't have it both ways.

I should also point out that anyone still in their 20's would probably be supporting Utd or Liverpool if Bolton had been in League 2 when they were at school.

Scum's a word for murder and rape etc. Not not supporting your local football team.

How ridiculous.

I think you can it both ways. There has always been a hatred towards Man u.

With Wigan it is different, they are a smaller club that are still in the top division so there is a little bit of jealousy there. They have also been a good competitor at home and away and finished previous seasons near us. Finally, with their fans clearly hating us more than any other club it is easy to have a mutual feeling.

Scum is a bit OTT.

obviously they either just supported the team that was winning when they were a kid and stuck with it or they have friends that did the same.

Sorry Jamster, but if Bolton had been in League 2 when you were at school no way would you have followed them. You'd have bought a United shirt just like everyone else in your class.

Bolton became a cool team to support from around 1999 onwards. Plastic Bolton fans I call them.

I agree. I just don't understand how you couldn't be embarrassed by being a clear glory supporter.

The only time its excusable is if your home team is truly shite, i.e. Blue Square North and then you can support another, better local team.

Above anything else I just think it would be so boring being a top 4 supporter. If you come second your disappointed, if you win the league its just the norm. The only tickets you can get are shite and mega money. And you will never feel the full emotional cycle which normal fans will experience. I couldn't sleep for a week and was having dreams about talking to Coyle leading up to the last game of the seaon, ok so that was a bad thing but no United fan is ever going to get that passionate because they 'only finished second'. Its sort of like playing FIFA on Amateur, no satifaction.

Liverpool have been underachieving for years and they are in the top half of the Premier League. How boring.

That's no different than a London born United supporter.

So if your home team is shit, support someone better? I bet you're from Bury you plastic fan.

I said local team, Bury would be an example of a 'better team'. Im talking about teams who play in the same league as 'Vauxhall Motors'.

I wouldn't call someone from Solihull a glory supporter if the also follow Birmingham for example.

So basically, the PRESTON business woman of the year is suggesting this entire site is made up of Bury and Wigan born Bolton Wanderers supporters, and even if true, that would make them in some way inferior to people born in the heart of Bolton town.

Brilliant.
