With the speculation season already underway I have to say I'm disappointed with the run-of-the-mill suspects that are being associated with us.
The one ray of hope that Dougie brought us in January was his apparent ability to search far and wide for bargain quality players that no other club had on their radar and in signing Medo and Gregus showed us that it can be done.
Is it naive of me to think that we could expect him to produce more affordable players who have the potential to become prem standard out of thin air?
Fast forward to the present day and all we're hearing is a string of uninspiring names that have failed to set the UK on fire in the past.
If we can't afford to buy Dawson and Spearing - the two greatest contributors to turning around our fortunes in the second half of the season - surely we can't just settle for players who we already know can't hack it? That would be accepting defeat before we get started.
I only hope that the rumours are just rumours and the scouting system is working overtime to attract some new names.

Freedman always said he knows which players to bring in if we go up, and which players to bring in if we don't .

I think he knows what he's doing, he'll build a better team for the start of next season, than the one we have now.

If we can get Dawson that would be a real bonus, I think he'll have a few aces up his sleeve .

Why are we talking about the likes of Beckford then? Is it all just rubbish?

Think there's probably an element of truth to Beckford unfortunately. I'm similarly uninspired by the targets so far but I trust Dougie will strengthen us for next year.

Gregus hasn't kicked a ball for us, you have no idea how good he is. Medo was someone he'd been tracking at Palace for ages thanks to a Palace scout.

So far, he seems to have the same sense for signing players as fanny Coyle.

Nobody can be as bad as fanny Coyle, he bought someone who can't even get into Burys team.

He's not in Coyle's league yet, I'll give him the Summer to prove me right.

According to some DF is the worst manager we've had in a very long time, worse than Coyle, Megson and Sammy Lee.

and he's proven it by taking us from 20th to 7th and missing out on the playoffs on goal difference.

interesting theory.

Has he made a bad signing yet? (Loans don't count)

We or any other club cannot sign anybody yet, unless they have been released by their club, and if they have been released it's because they were shit.

We're not being linked with out of contract players though, the rumours are to buy players when the window opens.

How many "slow news days" are there in a year? They just make it up as they go along.
I'll bet Peter Odemwingie is parked up outside the Reebok as I write.
