Do you like musicals?

God I flicked through the channels yesterday and that bloody awful Mary Poppins was on sky movies. I watched for a bit and it made me angry. What is it all about? Making a bloody song and dance about anything, this doesn't happen in real life. Can you imagine at work everyone dancing and singing 'Mikey is off to make a cup of tea, Mikey is off to make a cup of tea....'. 'Mikey is faxing some documents, Mikey is faxing some documents'. I hate how everyone in musicals is a bloody goody two shoes with perfect manners, I hate how they are always smiling, I would love to wipe their smug grins off their faces.

Half the time you have no idea what the bloody hell is going on, they just burst out into song and you just look on in bewilderment.
Take puss in boots - a woman with a cat face on in a pair of boots. Give me a fucking break. What the bloody hell is all that about?
Shitty shitty bang bang - a musical about an old banger - get stuffed.
I hate musicals, I hate everything about them, please tell me you do too?

I hate them so much way back from being a kid stupid suddenly answering someone by bellowing a song at them and fucking dancing. Had to go to sweeney todd johnny depp liked the film but oh the singing i was ill. worst 2 hours of my life. BUT and i will accept any shit thrown at me i love ( paint your wagon) with clint eastwood and Lee marvin that film just cracks me up, i dont care about the singing i love lee marvin in it its a comedy for me.

Les Miserables is a great musical.

I've seen a few over the years at the theatre.

Les Miserables was superb. I also actually liked Mary Poppins which I saw on Broadway.

Evita was good, Chicago and Oh What a Lovely War were ok but didn’t like Blood Brothers and Rent was crap.

Special mention for Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat and the Lion King - great for the family.

I've been known to enjoy a few...unrealistic but that's the point though..isn't it

Mary Poppins is a great film, as is Bedknobs & Broomsticks.

If I want reality I'll watch the news.

Singing in the rain is good and Saturday Night Fever.

I have a soft spot for some of the films of the older musicals especially the previously mentioned Paint Your Wagon with Lee Marvin grunting his way through "I was Born Under a Wanderin' Star", Cat Balou (Lee Marvin again with Nat King Cole) and Guys and Dolls (Marlon Brando and Sinatra) with Stubby Kaye telling us to "Sit Down You're Rockin' the Boat".
I think this is because my mum used to love them and I was forced to watch the likes of South Pacific etc. The early Hollywood musicals had huge stage stars, famous singers, great songs and a wholesome vibe - Hollywood really threw the kitchen sink at them.
Some of the recent ones are shit.
