First one was 2-1 Nolan then Ricketts.

The following season was 1-0 Nolan.

The famous Bolton Wanderers have beat Man. Utd. at Old Traff. many times.

It's not that long ago (don't know how long) that BWFC were the only team in the top flight that had beat Utd. more than visa-versa.

Megson beat UTD at home, no other Bolton manager has done that.

Went to Munich and got a draw.

I don't get this kind of trivia.

What good is it beating the Man Uniteds, if you routinely lose to the Portsmouths, Sunderlands, Blackburns, Wigans and even the Sheff Uniteds? Plenty of crap teams have taken points off United and Bayern.

You can dress things up like that with most managers, but it means nothing.

I don't think many people think Megson was a good manager for us. I don't. Anyone think he was?

It's just that he was better than Coyle in many peoples opinion.

I think he was good in what was expected of him. I don't think we were going to get relegated at any point under his reign. The football might not have been pleasant, but we did enough each year to stay up. What more can we ask?

How long ago are you going back? Most of the posters on here were born this century not last.

:agree:

I think Megson has the advantage of being the least recent.

Megsons advantage is not getting us relegated.

He would have if 3 of his best players had been injured for the whole season and been told to cut the wage bill in half.

We'll never know.

We all know what Coyle did though.

Out of Megson, Coyle and Dougie, I am more than happy to plump for Dougie. Next season will be his first full season with his own signings and pre season practice. I am quietly confident that Dougie will deliver.

Or if he'd taken over his own crap squad as opposed to Big Sam's that routinely finished top 8. And then had £18m to add to it as opposed to £44m.

Ironically, Coyle was recommended to Burnley by Garty around the time Megson was appointed at Bolton. I think Coyle would have done the same job as Megson if not better given the same resources and fortune, but then most candidates would have.

RT, are you saying that most posters are under 13yrs.

I know one or two are a bit juvenile but I think you're going a bit far.
