I personally feel that I waste a lot of time on the internet - internet forums, watching youtube videos, reading newspapers online, gambling. No porn though.
But it is addictive and certainly beats watching shit on the TV on an evening.
I would like to do more on an evening outside, especially summer evenings, but doing things each night would no doubt cost money and very few people I know would be interested in going out as they all have partners and families.
What did people do back in the 70s, 80s and 90s on an evening before the internet? I really don't know.
Are we wasting our lives away being online?

We had pubs where beer was affordable.

We had four TV channels that used to try and entertain us with dramas, comedy and science. Once of a day you could put BBC 2 on and watch it all night.

I used to be younger and go cycling a lot.

Playing football for hours on end, riding by Raleigh Chopper and then my BMX bike. Playing lots of golf.

Inside the house, mainly watching TV, or playing countless games on my Commodore 64 computer, mainly International soccer.

How times change!

Yes Copper Dragon, that really is a thing of the past where you could watch the same TV channel all evening.
And yes, who would go to the pub most evenings and pay over £3 a pint? Just going out for 2 drinks each evening would set you back almost £50 a week.
Back in the 80s and 90s I was a kid and I would be out with mates almost every evening - playing football or golf, bike rides, going round someone's house playing on the Mega Drive, etc. It is easier for kids to be doing things on an evening as you have lots of friends at that age who want to do things.
I suppose if you have a partner you can go for walks, meals out, spend a nice evening at home with food and wine, etc.

The fire brigade doesn't come cheap to carry you out of the window.

People used to go to the pub - beer was MUCH cheaper - and they would actually talk to other people. Now you see people sitting next to each other and they are texting on their phones and ignoring the people around them.

The internet will kill society as we know it. In 20 years time people will go years without speaking to another human face-to-face. Everyone will be a "larger than life" because they spend their lives on their PC/laptop/phone or whatever you twats are all using in 2033.

The English language will be dead, everyone will use txt or chav speak.

People should be more like me. I stop myself from watching tv before 10pm. I get out, get some exercise, walk my dog, do some knitting, do a crossword, get my clothes ready for the following day, plump up my cushions etc. And then I watch tv until 4am.

And whatever time you have left with your busy lifestyle, you spend bullshitting on the internet.
