The wife did me some porridge yesterday before she went to the gym,I fucking hate porridge but I'm trying to get my cholesterol lower as it was 4.7 recently which the GP said is ok but work on it hence the oats instead of beans on toast every day. So the gate bell goes its a parcel so I take care of it get back and the cat is eating my porridge,ok how fucking hard can it be to make a bowl of porridge ? So I do it and it was crap I could have used it instead of pug to build a fucking wall, I could not survive without a woman, that's well bad.

I'm making a spongecake tomorrow with jam in the middle and orange and coconut grated over the top of it.
I shall post a picture when it's done.
Aw man, you cannot be serious, you cannot do this to me. A jam spongecake with orange and coconut, I love cakes like that.

Well done Aaron - looks delicious.
Perhaps you should think about starting up your own little 'home baked cakes' business?

Cheers boss, I must admit it is something that has come to mind, i'm off to college on a part time pastery and desserts course in November to brush on a few techniques.
After that who knows.

I suggest that if you don't already do so, that you start giving family and friends cakes, buns and other stuff that you like to make, as presents or thank you's and let them know that you are looking for any business that they could put your way - maybe even people at their works needing a birthday or christening cake or whatever.
You won't make much if anything from doing it but it will get you used to dealing with people, working to their specifications and deadlines - and it won't be the end of the world if you have a disaster or two - as I'm sure you would run about like a mad man making everything right in the nick of time.
It's all about getting in some real practical learning about some of the things you can do and some of the things you can't currently do (Strengths and weakness then you can move on to opportunities and threats).
Word of mouth is the best recommendation you can get and your family are usually your biggest supporters.
I'm sure you can make a go of it if you wanted - so test things out now on your family and learn from it before you take things further.

A mate of mine and fellow Wanderer has parents who run a cake shop. They make specialist cakes for birthdays, weddings and christenings.
He went to college where he trained as a pastry chef. He has now qualified and works at the restaurant at Media City. He had a job offer to go and work in Dubai as a pastry chef in a hotel but he turned it down because it would have meant being away from his girlfriend.
If you can make pastry to a decent standard then you will always find work in the food industry.
