Is It Time To Ditch Facebook?

Not a day goes by without a news article about someone misusing Facebook.

Bomb threats, personal abuse, death threats, and mocking the dead have all been in the news in recent months. Obviously these people are scum, bu the people who cry like babies when someone calls them a 'knob' on Facebook are equally to blame for this crazy world.

So why is Facebook still here? it's basically a platform for twats to cause trouble.

If Facebook was removed today would it have any impact on your life? If the answer is 'yes' it's time to take a good hard look at yourself. Do you despise yourself for using it?

Its evil and should be shut down, Twitter ditto. All they are is a forum for mob bullying and inane babbling, although it does seem to have become the default method of policing.

If they took facebook away it'll cause a world war.

Nothing wrong with a bit of bullying and inane babbling, I've made a career out of it.

But you don't need Facebook for that.

I quite like Twitter but if Facebook got shut down right now i'd be quite happy.

There is a school of thought that suggests the more Facebook Friends you have the less likely it is that you will have any actual friends, is this true?

Unfortunately, in this modern world, the art of conversation, especially making friends, has become electronic. Even we are talking as if we know each other, but in reality, we wouldn't know each other if we met in the street. Although Facebook can be used for good and bad, for many people its the only way they can interface with the outside. Like this forum, if somebody says or does something stupid, or whatever, others feel free to comment. Some, like Nat, are very adept at starting such conversations. Facebook is good, however with people realising they can comment whilst remaining anonymous, there will always be some who try to make up for their own perceived lack of social standing. You don't need respect, or manners, when you are using social media, but most systems are used properley by many millions of people. Keep them all, but devise a simple system where people can be contacted, etc, when they step too far over the line. (It does of course raise the point of who's going to do it, and what is acceptable)

It is a shame in some ways. When you sit round a table nowadays everyone is glued to their phones (most of the time)

My mates funny, when we go out if I start txting he'll turn his back on me until I put my phone away .

It's not Facebook's fault.

There wouldn't be less knob heads around if it was scrapped.

Most people are capable of using it without harming themselves and/or others.

To be fair Facebook is nowhere near as bad as what Twitter is!!

I just tend to use FB to stay in contact with friends who are spread wide across the world and every single one I do know from either school, work or other social circles.

Hence why my profile, except to a select few, is private.
