Chelsea sack manager Villas-Boas

Former Chelsea midfielder Roberto di Matteo has been put in charge as first-team coach on an interim basis until the end of the season

Yeah because Chelsea will struggle to attract a new manager won't they.

Didnt Coyle and AVB both train together for their management badges?

OK this may sounds a like completey rediculous idea but sack Coyle and place Sammy Lee in temporary charge until the end of the season - gives us almost 5 months for a search for a decent, "cheapish" manager with true ambition - plus we are all used to Sammy Lee's upbeat, "positive" press encounters!

Thread just started in 'general' banter as well.

Happy to leave them both up and open for now but suggest (simply because it was started first) that people use the other to chat in.

Never had a chance at Chelsea with the ideas he had, wanted to ship out the old players and build for the future but I have a feeling player power has won yet again.

He cut a lonley figure on the sidelines in recent weeks, he will come back to haunt Chelsea mark my words.

You're right it is a ridiculous idea.

It's a shame because Di-Matteo has now taken over, one of the few managers i'd actually like to replace Coyle

Tbh I thought Lee was the worst Bolton manager we have had in my lifetime.

It says a lot when I would now prefer to go with Lee than continue with Coyle!

Not sure I can agree with that, though both have the same idea on how football should be played.

Just a shame neither put their ideas into reality or we maybe in a better position than what we are now.

I was actually going to the games under Lee (i know! miracle) and the atmosphere amongst the fans was awful, it was also during the period where the fans had turned on Kevin Nolan.

Lee was quite similar to Coyle really he liked Wingers, but never utilised them properly, he played a wide open midfield with awful quality players like Alonso.

he also dropped people who were vital to our success

Thing is, nowadays, we actually do not have any real players who are actually vital to our success to stay in the Premiership.

I, like many others, seemed to give Lee a bit of a hard time (although nowhere near as bad as Gary "blame everyone else but myself" Megson) but he came in as manager after Big sam decided to leave, although at the time I would have assumed that Phil Brown would have got the job as his style was similar to Sams, had success as a Caretaker manager and he knew the squad, the club and the fans. As it was Sammy Lee did actually not too bad considering. Lee's only downfall was that he tried to change the team and style of play far too quickly - i.e. over the summer months when he bought 12 players of varying skills.

As a temporary role, I definitely would not have a problem.

"Sammy Lee did actually not too bad" Blimey you're easily pleased. One win in eleven is definitely not good enough for me.

Hardly surprising. Only one win in their last seven games and that was of course against us.

When you're in trouble and need some points who do you call? Bolton Wanderers!

Was he sacked or did he resign ? It said on the news that he had walked out! Yesterday he said he would never quit the Chelsea job.

The good thing for Chelsea is that the Vicar, Mick McCarthy is now free.

There are some similarities between how AVB's role was portrayed in the media and what I suspect OCs brief is i.e. cut the wage bill, bring in a load of younger players to replace the ageing squad and whilst your at it, give us success on the pitch.

Easier said than done.
