Do we need a change at the board?

So, when you say improve us, would you consider us being in 20th position (we are currently in 21st) at Christmas 'improvement' and therefore reason to keep the current management?.bwfc1874 wrote:He got us into a far better position last season, and has since had 4 bad games in the league.waynagain wrote:He's had 37 games to 'prove' himself and we are not in any better position than when he came. How much longer are the fans supposed to give him?
The only thing keeping him in his job right now is that if Gartside fired him he would be admitting he has made 'another' mistake.
He deserves till at least Christmas to improve us.
Palace started the season poorly last season, look where they ended up

I was watching Freedman in the last 5 min's of the game against QPR, because watching that clueless individual was more entertaining than that game i'd just been watching.

I think any sane person would see getting us so close to the play offs last season as an improvement.waynagain wrote:So, when you say improve us, would you consider us being in 20th position (we are currently in 21st) at Christmas 'improvement' and therefore reason to keep the current management?.bwfc1874 wrote:He got us into a far better position last season, and has since had 4 bad games in the league.waynagain wrote:He's had 37 games to 'prove' himself and we are not in any better position than when he came. Your scenario is based on nothing but assumption. There's zero evidence to suggest we'll be 20th at christmas. Im sorry but you need to judge a manager on the results he's had. Not what waynagain thinks he may.

To be honest I'd say the person who thinks Mick McCarthy and Roy Keane are good managers is the clueless individual.scottjames30 wrote:I was watching Freedman in the last 5 min's of the game against QPR, because watching that clueless individual was more entertaining than that game i'd just been watching.

I'd like to think we would challenge for playoffs this season.
anything less would be a disappointment for sure.
but on the flip side, if he's able to bring 2 or 3 young players to first team level this season that will be encouraging.

Fantastic tweet.
just when you think you've read reached the bottom of the barrel. If Dougie was to get his P45, who would you see as taking over from him? The only person I can think of would be Tony Pulis

Gartside's made some good decisions, albeit no-brainers and some bad decisions, some of which to his credit were championed by Bolton fans.
Overall, I think he's done a poor job and seems a nasty piece of work but the timing of supporters getting on his back is generally ludicrous.
There's so few managers (if any) around that can guarantee a certain level of success. To an extent, choosing one is just pot luck.

In answer to the title question...
No. He earns a lot of money.

So, I'm assuming we're in 21st place? Being so 'close to the playoffs' (7th place) and now 21st is an improvement? Only an insane person would think that.bwfc1874 wrote:I think any sane person would see getting us so close to the play offs last season as an improvement.waynagain wrote:So, when you say improve us, would you consider us being in 20th position (we are currently in 21st) at Christmas 'improvement' and therefore reason to keep the current management?.bwfc1874 wrote:He got us into a far better position last season, and has since had 4 bad games in the league.waynagain wrote:He's had 37 games to 'prove' himself and we are not in any better position than when he came. At the moment all you have is guesswork to support your argument.

I agree with that...no evidence for 20th .... there is evidence for 21st or 22nd thoughNatasha Whittam wrote:Funniest post of the year!bwfc1874 wrote: There's zero evidence to suggest we'll be 20th at christmas.

Barnsley & Charlton both have home games this week ..... if either one of them wins and we get beat at Blackburn we will be in the bottom three. That's not a joke IMO.

Gartside is an odious twat who'll cling on as long as he can. Somebody mentioned him as a cancer in the club recently, I must agree, however he won't be going anywhere soon, mores the pity!!

All you can do is make a decision based on the games played so far - we have been shite and look relegation fodder.bwfc1874 wrote:

You may be right, we may improve and storm the league, but there is zero evidence of that so far.
If you were watching a 1500m race and a guy was 100 yards behind the rest with a lap to go, you would expect him to finish last. Of course he could put in a mad sprint and win, but highly unlikely. If you had to make a call with a lap to go any sane person would say he would finish last.

the way people are talking you'd think we'd lost every game 0-5.
every game has been a coin toss basically.
against forrest we were outclassed once we went down to ten and it was defensive lapses that cost us.
the other games have been pretty even, and when you consider the opposition it's hardly a bad thing.

True, but after only 4 games it's more like being last in a 1500m race 100 yards in, at which point you'd be mad to write off anybody in the race.Natasha Whittam wrote:All you can do is make a decision based on the games played so far - we have been shite and look relegation fodder.bwfc1874 wrote:

Im not saying we're guaranteed to fly up the league, but as Hipster says people are acting as if we're getting battered every week. We've had a disappointing start but I don't think it's anywhere near the time to panic and talk of sacking the manager is nothing short of embarrassing IMO, especially when you consider what he did last year.

Its like the guy in the race has fell over and pulled a muscle , all we do now is wait for the stretcher .
