I am watching the pool world cup on skysports now. I quite like 9 ball pool apart from one thing, the pockets are a joke. The pockets are so big that there is a huge margin for error. I think if the pockets like normal pool table pockets it would be a far better game.
Anyone else watching it?

No but have played it. Silly game. Special cues for breaking and with the ball shortage you don't get your 50p worth.

Yes 50p a frame wouldn't last long, I remember playing it at a Hollywood Bowl type place at uni when you had the table for a hour for about £6 which was decent.
I don't think these players are all that good. They seem to be nerds who are big time charlies. Some even put gloves on for certain shots lol. I bet Ronnie O'Sullivan would wipe the floor with all of these at 9 ball pool.

Steve Davis and Tony Drago were quite good at pool as well. Iirc they won the World Pairs Pool Championship in America.

Used to watch this on sky years ago and still love it now although not got the time now unfortunately.

I remember the guy with the extended fingers when he started using them and causing issues with the ref, I think his name was Earl Strickland?

I remember they had the cup in asia (I think Malaysia?), and an amateur paid to join at a cost of $5,000.

Always fancied a go to be honest Very Happy

You should enter, you'd probably win, it is such an easy game.

Anyone been watching the Pool world cup this evening? Some of them are really shitty players - it is like watching players down the pub, missing the huge pockets by miles. There have even been shots where the players have had ball in hand and had straight shots and missing. It seems to me like anyone could be a top player at 9 ball pool if they put a bit of practice in.

Used to play 9 ball at the place near Argos (Hustlers I think it was called), then it became a club and it was a Chinese buffet place last time I was in Bolton.

It's not the best game, they do have amazing control on the cue ball but you have a greater margin for error than snooker or eight ball pool  because of the massive space you have due to the size of the table, and the pockets are very forgiving.
