The low-down on Saturday's opponents from the Steel City
Bolton Wanderers and Sheffield Wednesday meet for the 113th time this weekend, with the Owls currently holding the upper hand in terms of victories in the fixture with 51 as opposed to the Whites’ 37.
There have been 24 draws between the two teams since the start of the Football League, with the last coming back in October 1993 when Tony Kelly was on the score sheet for Wanderers at Burnden Park.
Having survived relegation in the latter stages of last season, Wednesday have experienced a testing start to life during the current campaign - so much so that they are at present the only team in the Sky Bet Championship to have not recorded a league win.
They have played out six draws however, securing respectable results on the road against the likes of Leeds United and Brighton, but the Owls’ inability to pick up maximum points has left them languishing in the lower reaches of the league table.
Having joined the club in March 2012 following six years in charge of Cardiff City, manager Dave Jones led the team to promotion just months after his arrival with a second place finish in League One ahead of fierce rivals Sheffield United.
Following on from a difficult campaign last term however, the Liverpool-born boss moved to strengthen his squad in the summer transfer window, most notably with the loan signings of striker Matty Fryatt from Hull City and experienced defender Roger Johnson from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
With a first victory of the season having eluded his side so far, Jones will be hoping that his players can take inspiration from their battling display against Ipswich prior to the international break which saw the Owls bounce back from a goal down to pick up a point at Hillsborough.
Last time out (D 1-1 v Ipswich Town) Kirkland, Buxton, Roger Johnson, Llera, Reda, Johnson (Jermaine Johnson 57), Antonio, McPhail, Coke (Semedo 43), Fryatt (Palmer 76), Nuhiu
