It is all about results for Wanderers’ on-loan midfielder Neil Danns at present rather than pretty, flowing football.

Danns helped the Whites grind out a 2-0 victory at Bournemouth on Saturday to extend their unbeaten Championship run to six matches.

It was a second successive triumph on the road but one which came in a game that saw Wanderers concede two thirds of the possession to their hosts and operate on the counter attack.

Danns appreciates those are tactics not always welcomed by fans but knows climbing away from the bottom means acquiring results any way they can.

The 30-year-old Liverpudlian said: “We are progressing. We’re unbeaten in six and got a win against a very good Bournemouth side who won’t drop many points at home. They play good football.

“The gaffer got his tactics spot on and we soaked up the pressure, kept our shape and then caught them on the counter.

“I know sometimes the fans got frustrated and didn’t think we were closing down but I can honestly say that it was tactical. It’s there to see it worked.

“It has just been that little bit we’ve missed recently. We’ve gone a goal up and ended up drawing but being unbeaten in six we are making good strides forward and I hope everyone can see that.

“The main thing at this point with the position we’re in is results. As long as everyone understands that, we can’t go wrong.

“Once we start climbing the table then all the fancy stuff can start coming out.”

It was another happy journey back to Lancashire for Wanderers and their fans after breaking their duck at Birmingham.

Danns scored what proved to be the winner in that game and is yet to taste defeat in a Whites shirt.

And he admits he is loving life at the Reebok on loan from Leicester City.

Danns added: “I’m thoroughly enjoying myself here and I’m thankful to get the opportunity to help Bolton Wanderers.

“I’ve always said I’m under no illusions – I know my strengths and I know my weaknesses.

“Players can’t always play well but if I have a bad one, the least I have given is 100 per cent. That’s the bare minimum anyone should give.

“I’m like a kid when I get on the pitch – I just want to run.

“I am enjoying myself and hopefully the results can keep coming too.”

Wanderers return to the Reebok to take on Millwall on Saturday as they search for a first home win to send them into the international break on a high.

Danns hopes they can reward the fans after almost 1,000 made the long trip to Bournemouth last weekend.

He said: “It’s a good opportunity but we’ll go into it the same way, whether we’re playing top, middle or bottom of the league.

“There are no formulas, we’ve just got to go out and play our game. A result would give everyone a lift.

“It will help having the fans on our side at home. I couldn’t believe how many were there at Bournemouth, it’s such a long trip.

“They really played their part and as players we’re thankful for that.”
