Wanderers' Under 18s slipped to a 1-0 defeat against Newcastle United at Lostock on Saturday afternoon.
In a game which saw the Whites dominate in terms of possession and opportunities, an own-goal from Carl Kennedy after 25 minutes was the difference on an afternoon blighted by torrential rain.
Speaking after the match, coach David Lee explained that although he was frustrated that his side weren't able to capitalise on their impressive performance, he was ultimately pleased with the effort shown by his players on the day.
"We played very well, so we are disappointed not to have taken anything from the game," he said. "We created several good chances to score and ultimately just lacked that final touch in front of goal.
"We'll pick ourselves up and prepare ourselves for our game against Manchester City next weekend."
Bolton: Campbell, Greenaugh, Gibson, Ball, Kennedy, Bailey, Hinchcliffe (Abbotts, 60), Walker, Knight, Torres, Newby.
