Whites boss Dougie Freedman has put his search for goalkeeping back-up on hold – for now.
After revealing Adam Bogdan’s rehabilitation from a knee problem was taking longer than expected following the home win against Millwall last time out, Freedman hinted he may dip into the loan market for reinforcements.
The club have since drafted in teenage Manchester United stopper Jonny Sutherland on work experience but the manager says that is more to help boost numbers in training.
But the form of recent arrival Arran Lee-Barrett has prompted a rethink.
The 29-year-old former England C keeper was drafted in on a short-term deal to provide cover for Andy Lonergan in Bogdan’s absence.
Freedman said: “The young keeper (Sutherland) is just helping us out in training really.
“We have Andy and Arran but he has come in to help out.
“Arran has come in and been fantastic in training.
“I have no doubt that if I needed to throw him in, I could.
“That has been a big bonus for us and what has probably held me back in going for more cover for Adam.
“We need a bit of fortune back there with Jay Lynch out as well and hopefully there will be no more injuries after the loan window closes and Adam will be back soon.”
