Partick Thistle manager Alan Archibald is keen to extend Gary Fraser's loan from Bolton Wanderers despite the midfielder's seven-match suspension.

The 19-year-old will not be available for selection again until three days before his loan ends on 4 January.

"We are no further forward with that," admitted the Thistle manager when asked about a possible extended stay.

"We have not spoken to Bolton about it, but we have got time on our side with that one."

Fraser has made four appearances for the Scottish Premiership side, but he has not featured since August.

He was sent off while playing for Thistle's reserves against Dunfermline Athletic on 22 October, earning an automatic two-game ban.

And he was handed a further seven-game suspension last week after being found guilty of seizing Dunfermline's Chris Kane, causing him to fall to the ground and kicking him repeatedly on the head and body in the lead-up to his red card.

Archibald, though, wants to make a further agreement with Bolton manager Dougie Freedman.

"We have until the first week in January before we need to sort that," added the Thistle boss.

Championship outfit Bolton signed Fraser from Hamilton Academical in July and immediately sent him to Firhill to gain regular first-team football in Scotland's top flight.

It seems odd to me that they seem to want him. The article says he played four first team games and mostly the reserves. He cab't be all that great if he can't get in their first team before he was banned. If he isn't good enough for a scottish prem first team then it probably means he's not good enough for the championship here so in my opinion if they want to either loan him for the rest of the season or better yet buy him outright we should take the cash and wave goodbye.
