WANDERERS forward Craig Davies will today join Wolves on loan as manager Dougie Freedman makes way for new arrival Joe Mason in his attacking department.
Davies was linked with a permanent move back to his former employers at Molineux in the summer with Old Gold manager Kenny Jackett reportedly lining up a £400,000 offer.
But Freedman poured cold water on talk of any exit for the man he signed last January on a two-and-a-half year contract.
Since then, however, the 27-year-old has struggled to make an impact and this season has been in and out of the team due to a series of niggling injuries which have not allowed him to reach peak fitness.
The Wales international has started just two games for the Whites this season, in the Capital One Cup win at Shrewsbury and at Nottingham Forest in the Championship.
He has figured in eight matches but played little more than 10 minutes from the bench since August.
And his absence has been a source of frustration for Freedman who will now hope some game-time in League One will benefit his fitness in the next month.
Davies, who cost Wanderers £300,000 from Barnsley at the start of 2013, knows Molineux well after a year-long loan spell with Mick McCarthy’s Wolves seven years ago from Italian side Verona.
But his impact, much like his time so far at Wanderers, was modest with no goals in 23 Championship appearances, although he started just six games. His current record for the Whites is four goals in 26 appearances, starting seven of those in league and cup.
