For some reason football forums take themselves too seriously. Reading some of the stuff on certain Bolton forums you'd never know we all supported the same team.

Most forums have posters with something worth saying, but a lot of the good stuff gets lost in reams and reams of personal abuse and slagging matches at which point I switch off.
Some folks just want to mass debate.

I agree it gets tedious when people are just debating for the sake of winning the argument.

I try my best these days to make sure what I write is for the good of the thread, rather than my want to put irritating people in their place.

There's one poster on one forum that's like an immovable wall. Suggestions that he doesn't like are just quashed with theories that he obviously makes up as he goes along. He's usually the making of any multi-page thread. Then again there's one of them on most football forums.
