A couple Christmases ago I asked for a Steve Coogan boxset at £35. It's basically got all his old stuff in there, but I mainly wanted it for the Paul and Pauline Calf episodes which you can't just buy on their own.
Then, a few months ago, I had to search the house high and low for this one disc, and eventually found it underneath the TV, scratched to buggery.
There's no disc in the house I'd less rather this have happened to, and we've got thousands, including some utter shite.
I've been so completely fucking fucked off about this you wouldn't fucking believe it.
I've tried everything from a gentle polish to applying Vaseline (apparently it works sometimes) and it still gets stuck in the same place.

I'd be willing to pay a few quid to have it fixed, but I'm not sure how comfortable I feel about these places that offer "disc repairs". Has anybody had similar experiences and got any advice?

I really don't want to hear where you've been smearing vaseline.

How about downloading some software that can try to recover the data from it and burn to a blank DVD?

Use furniture polish... like pledge on a soft cloth and buff till dry & shiny The wax in the polish fills in the scratches so the laser on your player will glide right over them. Never tried this myself, but if the disc is knackered it can't hurt to try it.

BTID, you are a star. This must be a very recent release as I only last checked if they did it on its own a few weeks ago.

Many thanks, it's on it's way.

i'd been waiting for this to come out on DVD for years and finally got it a while ago. Still one of the funniest programmes ever and can probably quote most of it from memory.

rinse under cold running water and dry with kitchen roll.

It really don't matter Biggie. Do it during, you can have a little game trying to shoot your load through the hole...
