Wanderers’ Under 21 side will be hoping to bounce back to winning ways when they travel to face their Leicester City counterparts on Monday afternoon.

Having bowed out of the U21 Premier League Cup in their last outing with a 3-0 defeat at Turf Moor before Christmas, the club’s youngsters make the trip to the East Midlands following a three week festive break looking to record their first victory since the start of December.

After enjoying a steady first half to their campaign which yielded six wins – four of which came in succession between November and December – the Under 21s’ climb up the table was halted by a rampant Chelsea side in their final league clash of 2013 with the Blues running out 5-0 winners at the County Ground.

Despite suffering a dip in form of late however, their away form during the current campaign has been key to their success so far with goals certainly flowing in visits to Blackpool, Stoke City and Liverpool.

They will come up against a Leicester side however who have enjoyed a similar season to their own, with the Foxes youngsters having suffered just one defeat in their last eight games and two reverses on home soil since the start of August.

With both teams having accumulated 12 points from their 10 league outings this season, Wanderers currently reside a position above their opponents in the league standings in 15th position.

Coming into the clash on the back of an emphatic 5-0 victory over Port Vale in the Central League Cup last week, City coach Steve Beaglehole will be hoping that Harry Panayiotou can add to his brace against the Valiants when Wanderers come to town on Monday.

With the Whites no doubt keen to eradicate their last two results however, the young guns’ first league outing of the calendar year looks set to be a cracker.
