According to Alan Nixon. Beckford is out for between 3-4 weeks.Copper Dragon wrote:How did his visit to the hamstring specialist go?

No offence but Nixon isn't the most reliable source of info. I'd rather wait for Dougie to announce it but even if JB is only out for ten days we still need to bring someone in. We won't though.

We need to bring someone in because he's shite, not because he's injured.
Or perhaps Dougie could give a chance to the bloke he paid £300k for who has a proven record at this level. But that would be too obvious and therefore old fashioned in Dougie's book.

Craig Davies surely must feature at Reading, but I won't hold my breath.

After a slow start (1 in 12) Beckfords gone on to get 8 in around 12 starts. We haven't had a striker with such a good record in a long time. He's a good championship striker and we'll miss him, play Davies or get somebody in ASAP. We know N'gog on his own doesn't work.

In the summer we had people saying it was all about bringing in a 20 goal striker (despite neither automatically promoted team's top scorer surpassing the 9 mark).
In Beckford, we've got a player who would score at least 20 if he started every game and people aren't happy.

Despite him needing 3 easy chances to convert 1 I would still pick Beckford for every game - just as I would have picked Klasnic despite his lack of running.
Football is about scoring goals, but some on here would have you believe it's about holding up the ball and making runs into the corner.

Beckford misses chances yes, but he's consistently getting in dangerous positions and as Doffcoker says if he started every game he'd get 20 goals a season. He's undervalued by too many on here.

I like Beckford, he never stops going for goal and always looks hungry. He might miss a few but his head never drops and he always keeps trying. Get some decent service to him from the midfield and wings and he'd easily get twenty in a season if not thirty.

He can be lazy though, instead of chasing a mid passed pass, he just jump up and down and complain. I noticed in the last match that he always tends to preempt a defender making a mistake and is ready to pounce.

This is true albeit to a lesser extent of Cavies. Cavies is less mobile but he has a much better shot and is more accurate IMO.

Cravies will only get a game for BWFC if all other strikers, including the reserves, under 18's, under 15's and under 5's are all injured.
you don't get away with fucking freedman's Mrs that easily.

Not good at all, 3 weeks is a long time when he is our main striker.

Cravies is mediocre at best look at his record for christ sake, he does not score regularly, however the lad deserved a chance, but for several reasons he is not deemed better than our other strikers, a statement i agree with, hence he is not in the team.
Beckford is a natural finisher especially at this level, to say he needs three chances to score one is a ridiculous statement, i would take that strike rate every day of the week?
The question that needed answering was how on earth did Dougie favour Mason over Beckford.
The guy was dropped whilst in form, for a real lightweight?
Nothing against Cravies but hes not the answer unless you need a bulldozer who can't score.

Apart from leaving us very short on striking options I wouldn't say i'm gutted about the news. Him and the rest of the strikers have been piss poor this season.

Im not sure what people expected from Beckford to be honest, he's a goalscorer and so far he's scored goals - at a good rate too after taking a while to bed in. The criticism of missing chances is laughable, he gets so many chances because he picks up dangerous positions, which (apart from the far less mobile Klasnic) we haven't had in a striker since Anelka.
He's as good as it's going to get on a free in the championship I'm afraid.
