The Institute of Sport and its International Soccer School recently paid a visit to Miami to work with the Soccer Demilio camp.

The second time that the ISS has travelled to the USA to get involved with the camp and its founder Carlos Demilio, the team spent a week there between 29 January and 5 February.

Boasting 22 players from a variety of countries including the USA, Colombia, Ecuador, Aruba and Panama, two of those involved will be attending the International Football Studies programme provided by Bolton Wanderers Football Club in September, with a further ten being invited to the World Grand Skills Final which will be held later this year.

Put through their paces by the ISS' manager David Bailey, the youngsters took part in games and coaching sessions to earn their place at the seventh annual final.

Speaking regarding the camp, Bailey commented on the quality of the players involved and admitted his delight at how much of a success the trip had been.

"Usually we look to invite three or four to attend our Skills competition, but the talent on show was so high and from many different countries that I decided to invite more so that they can have the Bolton Wanderers experience," he explained.

"The talent and attitude were first class - these boys live and dream as all players do about turning professional, and part of that dream is coming to England so to be able to offer that opportunity is very special."

Following on from the success of the recent camp, the ISS have already been invited to return to Miami in July to run a third development camp with Soccer Demilio.

I hope they enjoy the "Bolton Wanderers experience" a bit more than I've been doing recently.

So one of the new Burnden Leisure subsidiaries seems to be paying off well - wonder how much money it is actually bringing in to the parent company? (the next and final open set of accounts should say at the end of the year when they are published)
