I think they have a right to have an opinion, but it is naive and unprofessional to express it publicly.Reebok_Rebel wrote:wanderlust wrote:Very disappointing to hear this. How did they express this opinion? What exactly did they type?

It just shows the utter frustration felt by the players and don't think it is only just the younger ones who feel this way. Freedman has absolutely zero credibility in my opinion and the Lonnergan situation is just the latest example of say one thing do another. It's true it does show in one way a lack of respect but in my world a person earns respect and Freedman just doesn't do that. I frankly wouldn't trust the guy to speak a word of truth which is probablywhy he seems to get on we'll with Gartside.

IF this is true he's lost the dressing Romans needs to go I'm afraid.
But I can't quite believe there are fans on here who are defending them for this, it only paints our club in a bad light and to mock a loss is taking the piss out of all of us. Anybody who doesn't see it that way is delusional I'm afraid.

Laughable that players of this quality (none) feel they've earn the right to act like cocks on a public forum.
Hope they never play for us again quite frankly, even if I agreed with their sentiment (which i don't)

Both parties (DF and the young players) need taking into the board room and have a serious talk with PG and the owner.
DF because he seems to be losing the grip on his own players and the the likes of Hall and Vela need a fucking rocket up their arse for showing the club in a bad light.
I imagine DF lost Riley and Velas respect on his handling of Davies, still no exuse.

His handling of Kevin Davies?
He decided not to offer him a new deal, the right decision. I'll never know what else he was supposed to do, personally build him a statue, these players think they're bloody Gods don't they.

At the end of the day they are employees of the club. They are happy to draw their wages so they should have the good sense to keep their thoughts to themselves and not publish their views on a public forum.

He's not used to handling young players don't you know.
Now if were chairman I'd be sending DF on a proper course to help him improve his relationship with the younger players. But I'd have to think about the costs involved I mean would it be wasted if DF is not here long enough to witness the benefits from the course or this magical youth scheme he told me about.

I think that this little shit storm is a convenient distraction for the club by getting the fans vitriol directed at the young players and away from the shit manager and useless Chairman.
Ask yourself why the Bolton News published an article which shows the club in a bad light? Because the club wanted the article published. The Bolton News paper is the mouth piece of the football club much like Pravda was the mouth piece of the Scocialist party in former USSR.

His handling of the Davies situation was exemplary, I don't know what else he should have done in that situation?
Davies wasn't happy about it and there were plenty on here criticising his reaction to being let go. Now the situation has changed and Dougie handled it poorly? Do me a favour Aaron.

Bolton Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman Tweets his young players mean after Twitter exchanges
Wanderers have taken a hard line with four young players for a series of controversial tweets sent within hours of Tuesday night’s derby defeat by Burnley.
Rob Hall, Josh Vela, Sanmi Odelusi and Joe Riley have landed themselves in hot water after a series of messages that were considered to be in breach of the club’s policy on the acceptable use of social media.
One of the messages sent after the 1-0 defeat, which has since been removed, contained the word “curtains” while other replies – a series of emoticons meant to express happiness and sadness – were also viewed dimly by Wanderers and a large number of our readers.
None of the players were involved in the defeat, which left Wanderers in 19th position in the Championship table and just two points above tomorrow’s opponents Millwall.
But speaking to The Bolton News yesterday, Dougie Freedman assured fans who have voiced their disapproval that the matter would be dealt with in-house.
“We are making sure it will never happen again and that they keep their thoughts to themselves,” he said.
“The young players seem to use it (social media) more than the older players and they seem to get caught out from time to time.
“The wording of it, the word ‘curtains,’ I’m not too sure what it actually means; we’ll have to ask the players that.”
It is not the first time Freedman has had to tackle issues with social media use within his squad.
A policy was introduced early last year that provided players with guidelines about their use of networking sites such as Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
That decision was taken following a few high-profile incidents involving striker Marvin Sordell, who is currently on loan at Charlton Atheltic.
“These young lads can get dragged into things online and the way certain words are interpreted can cause problems,” admitted Freedman.
“They get carried away and a smiley face can sometimes read to fans like ‘why are you smiling after a game?’ He could have pressed the wrong button or anything like that.
“It is not a situation I think they should be putting themselves in.”
It is understood Freedman has now spoken to each of the four players individually to warn them about their future behaviour. Bolton Wanderers boss Dougie Freedman Tweets his young players mean after Twitter exchanges

Just shows completely the wrong attitude imo.
You can't be a professional at anything if your attitude is all wrong.
Football is littered with many, many young and very gifted players, who never succeed in making the grade yet lesser gifted players go on to do so - simply because of their difference in attitude and determination.
So things are no going the way they want - then do something about it - rather than bitch in public. Put your heads down, do more training, graft, seek advice of how you can improve, support the team, work, work, work - prove to them you have got what it takes.
It's too easy these days to seek the limelight and become a minor celeb - Christ why are grown men even following these kids tweets anyway? - it is all about character and a willingness to fight and overcome - think Stuart Holden for instance - than acting like spoilt brats who haven't got their own way, on social media sites.
If they are going missing at academy level now, then they will go missing in matches when that 'fight' to overcome will be most needed.
I predict now that none of these four - no matter how talented they are - will make a career in football higher than where they are now. I don't believe they have the right character to do so, whilst many others will have.

I'm glad the BEN has published an article about those players tweets. I was fooking annoyed about them and so were many other Bolton fans, from reading one or two other BWFC forums. I "tweeted" Mark Iles what these players said and I know he said the club were looking into it.
IMO the players have shown a total lack of professionalism and respect to BWFC.

Really by tweeting 'curtains' and some smilie faces and a picture of Hall with his head in his hands? If I've missed something please enlighten me.
I must be the only Wanderers fan that thinks this is blown out of all proportion. I don't see how it has brought the club into disrepute. It highlights the young players don't think much of the manager - much like most of us.
I await to be corrected if I have missed something here
