I think so. Palace don't want to lose Moxey, as they want cover in the left back position, until the end of the season.
Shame really. He's a solid LB.

I heard discussions were going well until we discovered some money would have to change hands.

We offered them 80 quid, apparently they wanted more and the club considered this a 'ransom' demand...
 Very Happy
We've got f*** all chance of landing £40 grand a week Hutton then!

I would be more than happy with this signing if I thought we would finally ditch Baptiste who is a bloody awful defender.

But Dougie will just move him to left back.

You can tell he likes us - he's already bought the classic 'bra top' away kit.

Wander, Hutton isn't out of contract in the summer, his current contract doesn't end until next summer.

My mistake Culcheth - you're right.

Villa have a load of players on big contracts so they'd better avoid relegation or they'll end up in the same shit we're in.

Defender joins Wanderers on short term loan deal

The 29-year-old Scotland international has joined on a deal that will run until March 29.

An experienced defender who has spent much of his career plying his trade in the Premier League, Hutton started out in his native Scotland with Rangers where he progressed through the academy before breaking into the first team at Ibrox.

A seasoned international with 38 caps for his country, Hutton joined Aston Villa in the summer of 2011 but has enjoyed loan spells with Nottingham Forest and Mallorca during the past two seasons.

Yes we all agree we badly need a left back but they seem to be thin on the ground at the moment. In truth we really need two specialist full backs so the signing of a right back is not unwelcome.

What do we think the deal is here financially?

People talk like Dougie can't bring in a sack of potatoes without loaning somebody out first, yet here is in February, bringing in a player whose on good money even by PL standards. Do we suppose the board are being lenient in light of the shitty injuries situation?

I'm pleased about the news by the way.

I think Villa realise there's no poit in keeping him around so have accepted our 25% (maybe less) off on his wages.

Good signing anyway.

:agree: Shame we just have him on a month's loan.

Good news IMO - but agree it's not a long time. Wonder if Dougie is expecting to get someone else in when it expires or hoping one of the walking wounded is back?

Probably the latter that Wander.

Do you know when the loan window closes? Smile

Traditionally it runs to the 3rd Thursday in March - the week before Hutton's loan is up - but they do tend to change it a fair bit.

Presumably if the period has been set to the end of March it therefore couldn't be extended even if both clubs wanted to.

We have an option to extend Hutton's contract after the initial one month loan deal, so that's good news!

That's good to hear Culcheth, I presume that will be for the rest of the season then?

I think you can loan an emergency loan player for 93 days, from the time that you signed him, so if we decide to extend his initial deal, we can extend it until the end of the season.

@TheJackDearden: DF " When David N'gog left and Craig Davies went to PNE on loan it meant we had enough money to get 3 or 4 players in on loan "

Would I take the Juke, Mason and Hutton over N'gog and Craig Davies? Without a doubt. He's taken a calculated risk and it looks to me as though it's paid off.

I think this is a problem and a big one at that mate.

We keep failing to get the best out of our own players and farming them out to bring in short term replacements for the same position. I won't argue against Juke's performances, hes actually surprised me by how well he's played up until now but you can't make long term plans for a football club by borrowing players from elsewhere all the time. I personally rate Hutton, I think he could be just what we need to solidify the back line in the absence of Mills but he's another loan, no matter how well he does he isn't our player and even if he stays till the end of the season we're back to square one in the summer.

Danns, Mason, Juke, Hutton, four players who could be seen as integral to our hopes will all be gone next August.

I don't see how Dougie can possibly put a solid system in place when he doesn't even know who his players will be.

With several of our own out of contract as well we could wind up being even more wafer thin than we already are.
